A fault detection circuit using change index

    【Chinese Instrument Network Instrument Development】 Recently, Wang Leiou, assistant researcher of the Institute of Acoustics, Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, proposed a fault detection circuit using the change index to effectively detect the failure of the sensor array. .

    The sensor array is distributed in a certain geometrical structure and is a sensor assembly that transmits and receives signals. Its main function is to improve the signal receiving capability in a low signal-to-noise ratio environment, that is, to suppress the noise and improve the output signal quality. Signal synthesis techniques can significantly increase the signal-to-noise ratio of the output signal by calculating the ideal synthesis weight. At present, signal synthesis methods mainly include two types. One is based on the feature space method, establishing a specific objective function to find the synthetic weights. The main problem of this method is that the calculation volume is large. The other type is an iterative signal synthesis method. The representative is the SUMPLE algorithm, which has good synthesis performance and low computational complexity. When a sensor in the array fails, the synthesis performance of the SUMPLE algorithm decreases. In response to this problem, related scholars have proposed an α-SUMPLE algorithm based on a modified coefficient, which can reduce the synthesis loss caused by a faulty sensor, but when there is no faulty sensor in the array, additional synthesis loss will result.
    Based on the existing problems of α-SUMPLE algorithm, Wang Leiou et al. used the variation index (VI) in the second-order statistics as a detection criterion based on the mathematical model and performance analysis, and combined the hypothesis test to obtain the failure detection threshold. A low-cost fault detection circuit is proposed. Experimental results show that the new fault detection circuit can effectively determine whether the sensor array has faults. When a failure occurs in the sensor array, the circuit can reduce the loss of synthesis; when there is no failure in the sensor array, the circuit will not generate additional synthesis loss.
