Recently, BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the AQSIQ according to the requirements of the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall, and decided to recall the following vehicles from now on, a total of 222 vehicles. :
(1) BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. recalled some imported BMW 523i, 535i, 550i, 730Li, 740Li and 750Li produced between November 27, 2008 and May 9, 2012, for a total of 157 vehicles;
(II) BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. recalled some domestically produced Brilliance BMW 520Li, 523Li, 528Li and 535Li produced between July 19, 2010 and April 30, 2012, totaling 65 vehicles.
In the course of after-sales maintenance of the vehicle within this recall, a defective airbag sensor module may be installed. Due to software programming errors in the defective sensor module, the airbag, the seat belt pretensioning device and the active headrest will not be activated in the event of a front or rear collision of the vehicle, posing a safety hazard. BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will conduct free inspections for vehicles within the scope of the recall. If defective parts are installed, the airbag sensor module will be replaced for free to eliminate safety hazards.
BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will notify customers by registered mail. After the official start of the recall, authorized BMW dealers will contact the relevant owners to arrange the recall.
