During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, the average annual growth of sales of construction machinery is about 17%.

In an interview on May 19, Cui Jun, president of the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, disclosed that after comprehensive consideration of various factors in the national “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, it is expected that the sales revenue of Chinese construction machinery in the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” will increase by an average of 17% annually. At the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, the sales volume of construction machinery will reach 900 billion yuan, and the export volume will exceed 26 billion US dollars.

In April, the excavator sales volume of major construction machinery companies in the country fell by about 50% month-on-month, to only 20,000 units, while sales in March were around 40,000 units. Not only excavators, but the total volume of loaders in April also fell 30% month-on-month, the largest year-on-year decline since April 2001.

In addition, bulldozer sales also fell sharply. Shantui sold 996 bulldozers at home in April, down 8.5% year-on-year and 48.9% mom. Qi Jun thinks that after the construction machinery industry has experienced rapid development, it should cool down and realize a stronger change.

In the past 10 years, the construction machinery industry in China has maintained a rapid development, with uniform production and sales growth of around 20%, and even over 30%.

Qi Jun believes that the rapid growth in the first quarter of this year is not normal, so the decline in sales in April is a normal adjustment. He said that although China is already the world's largest construction machinery market, because some of the key components are in the hands of other multinational companies, Chinese construction machinery companies do not have much say in the world, including the development of industry standards.
