Electromagnetic Flowmeter Application Common Error Analysis

    Common misuses of electromagnetic flowmeters include mishandling and flow disturbances and poor installation; noise cavitation and bubbles in liquids; condensates in gases; wear and deposits. These mistakes often lead to electromagnetic flowmeters

    The user often balances material from the process system, compares it with historical measured values, or compares it with other reference flow measurements to feel that the flowmeter measurement is inaccurate, but unloading the meter to check the flow standard device, except for a few errors in the meter itself ( If the debug settings are corrupted, verify that most instruments are normal. The reason for this is often due to improper installation of the instrument and the misuse of the mixed media in the pipeline, such as condensation droplets in the gas and air bubbles in the liquid.

    Bad installation

    Poorly installed and improperly installed bad installations, common are:

    1) The acute angle of the standard orifice is not mounted on the inflow side.

    2) The inner diameter of the seal gasket between the instrument and the pipe is smaller than the pipe inner diameter Dρ and the meter inner diameter Dm and the flow rate is generated. The DN should be slightly larger than Dm.

    3) Seal spacer eccentric (not centered). The seal gasket is installed eccentrically, covering part of the flow area and causing severe distortion and asymmetry in the speed distribution. Because the asymmetrical flow occurs at the inlet of the flow sensor, and the length of the upstream straight pipe segment is zero, it will bring measurement errors to differential pressure, turbine, vortex, ultrasonic, target, and electromagnetic instruments.

    4) The electromagnetic flow meter is in the wrong flow direction.

    5) Install the instrument that is sensitive to vibration interference on the vibrating official road.

    6) Lack of necessary protective accessories.

    These defects are well known or should be avoided by the meter factory. However, due to lack of strict training, lack of knowledge and attention of operators, such mistakes are not uncommon.

    Although the inner diameter of the gasket is too small or the installation eccentricity has no effect on the flow value of the instrument such as the volumetric type, float type and electromagnetic flowmeter , or the impact is minimal, additional pressure loss will be added.
