If the workpiece reciprocates in the longitudinal direction at the same time and the single-stroke or double-stroke movement in the longitudinal direction moves the grinding wheel relative to the workpiece, it is called longitudinal grinding.

If the grinding wheel is trimmed into a forming surface, the plunge grinding method can be used to process the formed outer surface.
