The diameter of the idler is determined by the bandwidth. The rollers can be cast from pig iron or made of steel. Now they are also made of plastic. The rollers are supported by bearings at both ends of the roller. Most of them are made of ball bearings. Roller bearings are used under extremely heavy working conditions.
