According to media reports, French tire manufacturer Michelin will invest 500 million U.S. dollars in the construction of a rubber plantation and rubber processing plant in Indonesia to produce synthetic rubber for export.

Shale Husin of Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry recently stated that through cooperation with its Indonesian partner, PT Barito Pacific, Michelin will build a factory in Banten Province, West Java, and a rubber plantation in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
"The construction project is expected to start the ground next year." Hu Xin added.
As of Thursday local time, the head of Michelin in Indonesia did not respond to the matter.
