New waterborne epoxy resin coatings come out

Researchers at Tongji University have invented a new type of waterborne epoxy resin coating with good stability and wear resistance, long pot life and high hardness of coating film. At present, most epoxy resin coatings on the domestic market are solvent-based coatings, which contain a large amount of volatile organic compounds (VOC), which are toxic and flammable, and thus can cause harm to the environment and the human body. As environmental protection requirements increase, the call for lowering VOCs and even VOC-free coatings is growing. Epoxy coatings are a high-performance coating that is widely used. Because of its good water and chemical resistance, it also has strong wear resistance and can be used as floor coatings, metal anti-rust primers and marine coatings. The new waterborne epoxy resin coating consists of an epoxy resin emulsion and an aqueous epoxy resin curing agent. The epoxy resin emulsion is prepared by emulsification of an epoxy resin reactive emulsifier, and the reactive emulsifier is used in an amount of 10% to 18% by weight of the epoxy resin, and a suitable amount is 12-15. This high-performance epoxy resin coating has a good application effect and does not cause environmental pollution, so it is quite popular among users.
