In mid-April, Shenyang Blower (Group) Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Corp. Tianjin Branch signed a contract for a 1 million-ton/year cracking pressure unit for ethylene plants. Wang Jiming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former general manager of Sinopec, believes that this move marks another major breakthrough in the nationalization of major national technological equipment.
At present, only a few multinational corporations in the world have an annual capacity of one million tons of ethylene equipment. In the 1970s, Shengu began to develop large-scale compressors for ethylene installations. It has successively developed dozens of new technologies with advanced international standards, and has provided 24 petrochemical enterprises in Daqing, Shanghai, and Maoming. 10,000 tons/year to 640,000 tons/year single petrochemical ethylene unit compressor unit, the product reached the world advanced level.
The contract stipulates that by the end of 2008, Shengu will provide a 0.1 million ton per year ethylene cracking pressure unit for Sinopec Tianjin Branch. Shengu, like GE of the United States, Siemens of Germany, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, became one of the members of the supplier of large compressor units for ethylene plants in the world, thus ending the history of long-term reliance on imports of large-scale ethylene plant compressors in China. After Sinopec Tianjin Branch, nine companies such as Sichuan and Wuhan will also have millions of tons of ethylene projects, providing a broader market for Shengu.
