The completion of the no-load test marks the conclusion of the second diagnostic test initiated on May 13 by the AP1000's first main pump. The results of the second diagnostic test reached the eight expected targets set before the test, namely: the smoothing of the idling curve, no abnormal noise on the bearing and no excessive vibration; the data measured by the thrust pad load probe show that the thrust load is evenly distributed, Axial thrust load within the allowable range of thrust bearings, radial bearings are subject to radial bearing load, hydraulic performance shows the head and flow in the required range, the pressure scan results show that rotor bending is very small, acceptable.
It is reported that, at present, the first main pump has been removed from the test circuit, the main pump manufacturer EMD is conducting test data analysis, and will disassemble the main pump inspection.
