Beach Park Fire Department is on the site

Another fire department from Lake County, part of MABAS Division 4, has recently been added to the site. Known today as the **Beach Park Fire Department**, it was previously called the **Bonnie Brook Fire Protection District**. Covering approximately 14 square miles in northeast Lake County, the department serves both unincorporated areas and the town of Beach Park. However, it does not cover the entire town, as a portion of Beach Park is still under the jurisdiction of the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department. According to the *Beach Park Village Link Newsletter* from winter 2003: > "The New Beach Park Fire Department > In the last months of 2002, there were plenty of positive changes in the fire protection services for our village. Formerly known as the 'Bonnie Brook Fire Protection District,' the name was officially changed to the 'Beach Park Fire Department' (BPFD) last November to better define the department’s capabilities and service areas." The department maintains a diverse fleet of apparatus, including models from Alexis, Pierce, Seagrave, Medtec, and Osage. The most recent addition is **Engine 1222**, a 2008 Seagrave Maurauder II. Meanwhile, **Engine 1212**, a 2002 HME/Alexis engine, is currently being repaired at Alexis Fire Apparatus.

In more recent updates, the Beach Park Fire Department has opened a second station at **13110 W. Major Avenue** in Beach Park. Originally a private home with an attached garage, the structure was renovated to include a lobby, office space, and a two-bay addition for emergency vehicles. This station typically operates with a crew of two or three personnel, functioning as a jump company that responds with either an engine or ambulance depending on the call.
