Blood tests are expected to predict suicide risk

Scientists at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine believe that this difference may be traced back to their genes to a large extent, resulting in pessimism due to genetic mutations. This mutation can be detected by blood tests.
The research team was led by Dr. Zachari Kaminski, who analyzed brain tissue samples from people with mental illness and healthy people. At the same time, all these people died of suicide. They found that the SKA2 gene concentration in these people was lower than normal people. It is part of the stress hormone that acts on the brain and if it is lacking or does not work properly, it will come to more negative thinking in stressful situations. At the same time, it was also found that mutations not only reduced the level of genes but also increased the amount of SKA2 groups. They analyzed blood samples from 325 testers. Based on the concentration of the SKA2 gene in these samples, the scientists predicted that those who participated in the investigation had considered suicide or attempted suicide, with an accuracy rate of 80%. And in the serious suicidal tendency, the accuracy rate reaches 90%.
If the data can be confirmed by larger studies, such tests may eventually be used to prevent suicide and adjust the appropriate treatment. At the same time it can also help with sales management and avoid the tragedy.
