The newly launched small SUV Citroen C3-XR will be put into production in China in December this year, produced by the PSA Peugeot Citroen Wuhan plant. In the future, the car will be exclusively for the Chinese market, with no intention of selling in Europe.

The Citroen brand CEO Olinda Jackson said that the Citroen C3-XR design style is well adapted to the needs of the Chinese market. Chinese consumers prefer spacious interior space, larger overall specifications, and automatic transmissions. The Citroen C3-XR sold in China is equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Although small SUVs and crossovers are popular in the European market, PSA Peugeot Citroen has no intention of introducing the Citroen C3-XR into the European market, but as a vehicle that is sold exclusively to the Chinese market. PSA Peugeot Citroen explained that if the Citroen C3-XR is listed in Europe, it will compete with the small SUV Peugeot 2008 under the same group for the market.
Citroen pointed out that C4Cactus, which landed in Europe earlier this year, is better adapted to the European market and is aimed at consumers looking for products with a small crossover.
