·Ministry of Commerce: South Africa will levy a tire tax in October

    Recently, according to the Ministry of Commerce, the South African Business News reported that South Africa’s Minister of Water and Environment Affairs Edna Molewa mentioned in the revision of the tire recycling plan that from October 2012, South Africa will Locally manufactured or imported tires are taxed at a rate of 2.30 rand (equivalent to 0.3 US dollars) per kilogram. This new tax will be used for the recycling of used tires. This is a new initiative launched by South Africa to strengthen the management of used tires.
