The Robbins Fire Department, part of MABAS Division 22, has recently been added to the site. The department operates from a single station and is equipped with four fire engines, a tower ladder, and a mini-pumper. The engines come from well-known manufacturers such as Darley, E-ONE, Fire-Max, and HME. Notably, the Darley engine was previously used by the Orland Fire Protection District, while the E-ONE unit originally served in Riverside, IL. These units are supported by EMS first responders who work alongside Bud’s Ambulance Service, which provides advanced life support (ALS) services to the community.
The mini-pumper was built by Hammerly on a Ford chassis—this is a correction from an earlier version that mistakenly stated it was on a Dodge. This particular unit was formerly operated by a department in Libertyville, Illinois, before being acquired by the Robbins Fire Department.
The station, located at 3327 W. 137th Street, features Chicago-style red doors, each labeled with the company name. The building serves as a central hub for the department's operations and reflects the community's commitment to fire safety.
Two of the department's engines have notable histories. Engine 2923, which was previously stationed in Riverside, IL, is now based in Robbins. Another engine, 2913, was originally built for the Orland Fire Protection District as part of a larger order of five units from Darley. These included three engines, a 55-foot Snorkel, and a 100-foot LTI rear-mount tower ladder. Engine 2913 was one of the original engines in that order and has since found a new home in Robbins, where it continues to serve the community.
These vehicles and the station itself represent the ongoing efforts of the Robbins Fire Department to maintain a high level of readiness and service to the residents of the area.
