According to customs statistics, in January 2008, China's pesticide exports reached 74,500 tons, an increase of 5.3% over the same period of 2007, and the export value reached 394 million US dollars, an increase of 56.3% year-on-year. The import volume was 0.19 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 45.6%; the import amount was 0.11 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 41.3%, and the import of pesticides dropped significantly.
In January 2008, the export volume of pesticides was 41 600 tons, accounting for 55.8% of the total export volume of the month, an increase of 31.3% year-on-year; the export amount was 277 million USD, accounting for 70.2% of the total export amount of the month, an increase of 86.2% year-on-year.
