In the approval of the provincial “city mineral†demonstration pilot project jointly issued by the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance, Suqian City Circular Economy Industrial Park was approved as a provincial “urban mineral†demonstration base, only two in northern Jiangsu; Rubber & Plastics Industry Co., Ltd. was approved as a demonstration pilot enterprise of “urban mineralsâ€, only three in northern Jiangsu.
“Urban Minerals†is a new term in recent years. It is an image metaphor for the scaled development of waste resource recycling. It refers to the production and accumulation of waste electrical and mechanical equipment, wire and cable, communication tools, automobiles, and household appliances in the process of industrialization and urbanization. Among the electronic products, metal and plastic packaging and wastes, the recyclable resources such as steel, non-ferrous metals, precious metals, plastics, and rubber are used as much as the original mineral resources.
In the mid to late 1990s, the town of Suoqian City took advantage of the policy opportunities and vigorously developed the recycling of used plastics. It has now become the largest renewable resource processing base in East China. In recent years, Suqian Suyu District has Jiangsu Qiangwei Rubber & Plastic Technology Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Sanyuan Tire Co., Ltd., Fuyang Yuyang Lefu Rubber & Plastics Industry Co., Ltd., and Liyang Jiasheng Renewable Resources. Co., Ltd., the products involved in high-quality recovery rubber, high-strength reclaimed rubber and so on. At present, the Suqian area can recycle about 500,000 tons of waste rubber resources annually. Recycled rubber has become one of the two bases for comprehensive utilization of used tires in our province, achieving resource utilization, industrial development and environmental win-win results.
