In late June, Taiyuan Baoyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. completed a one-month trial run of a 120,000 tonne/year coking crude benzene hydrotreating unit. This project is the second phase project of the 300,000 t/a coking crude benzene hydrogenation project of Baoyuan Chemical Co., Ltd., which adopts the proprietary coking crude benzene hydrogenation technology developed by China.
Taiyuan Baoyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. is jointly established by Taihua Chemicals Co., Ltd., Shanghai Baosteel Group, and Shanxi Taixing Group. The first phase of the 300,000-ton/year coking crude benzene hydrogenation project, which was previously built, can process 80,000 tons of coking crude benzene, using the world-class crude benzene hydrogenation and extractive distillation refining technologies to recover crude benzene from the coking process. Refined processing was carried out to produce high-purity chemical materials such as benzene, toluene and xylene. The project was completed and put into production in August 2006.
The second phase of the project, which was put into production, was based on the introduction and absorption of German Wood Chemicals technology in the first phase, and adopted the domestically advanced process of coking crude benzene hydrogenation. The second phase of the project was co-operated by Taihua, Hong Kong Dingli International Co., Ltd. and Shanxi Paite Chemical Co., Ltd., and it was started in September 2007. It was completed on May 15 this year, and it was ignited on May 30. Since then, Baoyuan Co., Ltd. has had a 200,000-ton/year coking crude benzene hydrogenation refining production scale, which has become the largest domestic production capacity production base.
