Buffalo Grove water rescues 6-26-13

Heavy storms swept through the area on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, bringing heavy rainfall that caused significant flooding in several suburban neighborhoods. The intense rain led to widespread road closures and dangerous conditions, prompting local fire departments to respond to numerous calls for assistance. Firefighters helped stranded motorists trapped in deep puddles and residents who were unable to leave their homes due to rising waters. The Buffalo Grove Fire Department activated a MABAS Box Alarm, calling for swift water rescue teams and boats from divisions 1 and 4 to assist with evacuations along St. Mary’s Parkway between Raupp Boulevard and Lincoln Terrace. Several neighboring departments, including Long Grove, Prospect Heights, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Libertyville, and Mount Prospect, quickly responded with additional personnel and equipment. Their combined efforts ensured that residents in the most affected areas could be safely evacuated.
