According to the latest report from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, the national oil and chemical sector showed strong performance in August, with robust production growth and continued expansion in exports. The industry maintained a relatively stable market environment, with prices remaining at a high level overall. The production and sales rate reached 97.2%, slightly lower compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the value of export deliveries amounted to 36.92 billion yuan, marking a 20.1% year-on-year increase—an improvement of 6.5 percentage points compared to the previous year. In August, significant progress was made in oil and gas exploration, and energy production remained steady. Agricultural chemical output also grew consistently, while fertilizer exports saw a notable decline, leading to an increase in inventory levels. Rising costs pushed domestic prices for petroleum and chemical products higher, with a substantial price increase observed across the board. Among the 168 key petrochemical products tracked by the association, 136 (or 81%) experienced year-on-year price increases, while 32 (or 19%) saw declines. Internationally, crude oil prices began to fall during the month. Overall, the price increases for certain inorganic products and fertilizers remain strong, though the pace is slowing. Organic product prices are adjusting more rapidly, and as global crude oil prices continue to drop, most petrochemical product prices are expected to trend downward in the coming months. However, some sectors are showing signs of slowing production growth, and export growth has declined sharply. Price inflation remains elevated, while global financial markets continue to face challenges. The economic landscape for the industry is increasingly uncertain, with growing instability affecting operations.
