The Fox River & Countryside Fire/Rescue District has recently been added to the site, marking a significant expansion in local emergency services. Bill Friedrich generously contributed high-quality images of the fire stations and equipment, offering a glimpse into this newly established department. The district officially launched earlier this year with two fully operational stations, employing full-time staff and a mix of new and used apparatus.
Among the new vehicles are two Medtec ambulances, which are part of the modern fleet designed for efficient emergency response. Additionally, the district acquired an engine and two tankers built on IHC 4400 chassis from Alexis, ensuring a strong and versatile firefighting capability.
In addition to the new equipment, the department also incorporated several used units. These include a Medtec Type III ambulance previously stationed at Morrison Hospital, a compact rescue unit from Rock Island, and two engines sourced from North Park and Bartlett. This combination of new and used resources allows the district to operate effectively while making smart use of available assets.
The first station is located at 40W361 Route 64 in St. Charles, and it features a brand-new Medtec Type I ambulance alongside a used Medtec Type III ambulance. The second station is still in the process of being fully equipped, but it's already serving the community with the support of the existing apparatus.
A large tanker, Tanker 1841, is also part of the fleet, providing essential water supply capabilities during major incidents. The photos taken by Bill Friedrich offer a detailed look at the district’s growing infrastructure and its commitment to public safety.
