The German mainland recently announced that the group's Powertrain Systems Division has undergone a restructuring to focus more on technology and strategic planning activities.
The technical and strategic planning of the Continental Powertrain Systems Division was formerly the responsibility of its Strategy & Technology business unit, which is now split into two new business units - Technology Innovation and Business Development. With the Business Development&Strategy, the main tasks of the two departments are as follows:
Head of the restructuring of the Continental Powertrain System Department
The Department of Technology and Innovation will focus on new technologies for powertrains, advance research and development of the software and hardware architecture of next-generation products, and coordination of innovation management. In addition, the department will also be responsible for cooperating with other departments of the Powertrain System Department to perform advanced R&D projects. From January this year, the Department of Technology and Innovation will be headed by Oliver Maiwald (pictured left) who previously worked as an engineering manager at Delphi Diesel Systems.
The Business Development and Strategy Department will focus on developing a strong powertrain strategy, identifying new development trends and market trends, and working closely with customers and related organizations to ensure that the powertrain system products are best matched customer's request. Christopher Breitsameter (pictured right) has been the head of this department in December last year.
