Machine Tool Industry: August Industry Operations Data Review

The growth rate of the machine tool industry continued to increase in August worldwide. Judging from the situation in Japan, after entering 2010, the annual growth rate of the total orders of the Japanese machine tool industry maintained rapid growth; however, the rapid growth of orders continued to decline in April, May and June, mainly due to the total amount of overseas orders. Decline, but in July and August, the year-on-year growth of overseas orders showed a slight increase; in terms of the absolute amount of overseas orders, there was also a slight increase in August.

The output growth of CNC machine tools in China reached a new high during the year in August. China's machine tool industry operating data show that China's CNC machine tool output growth continued to show a slight upward trend in August, the year-on-year growth rate of 82%, higher than the level of 68% in July. Judging from the absolute value of output, the output of CNC machine tools reached 20,700 units in July, which was higher than the 19,500 units in July, a month-on-month increase. It can be seen that the increase in the growth rate of CNC machine tools in August was due to the new effect.

The numerical control rate remains high. After entering January 2010, under the influence of factors such as economic restructuring and industrial upgrading, the output of CNC machine tools has been continuously expanding, which has led to a continuous increase in the numerical control rate of China's machine tool industry. In August, the numerical control rate of China's machine tool industry was 30%, compared with June. The numerically controlled rate of 30% is basically the same and maintains a high position; this shows that the demand for CNC machine tools is increasing faster, which is also consistent with the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry.

Downstream drivers have slipped. The automobile and construction machinery industry is the main downstream of the machine tools, and it is also the main driving force for the development of the machine tool industry. After entering 2010, affected by the base effect, although the growth rate of China's automobile output and construction machinery production declined to a certain extent, it still maintained a positive growth. From the perspective of the auto industry, the growth rate of China's automobile production in August was 13% year-on-year, which was a drop from June, and the year-on-year growth rate fell for 5 consecutive months.
