According to the latest statistics released by the China Iron and Steel Association yesterday, a total of 22 ironmaking blast furnaces were put into operation in the country last year, with a total volume of approximately 28,000 cubic meters, and a pig iron production capacity of 25 million tons. The number of blast furnaces decreased by 16 compared to the same period in 2012, and the production capacity decreased by 5 to make.
The data show that of the 22 new ironmaking blast furnaces, the number is highest in East China, reaching six, four in North China and four in the Northwest, three in the Southwest and Central China, and two in the Northeast. In the new blast furnace, private steel mills have a large number of new blast furnaces (15 seats) with a capacity of 14,000 cubic meters. Although there are only seven blast furnaces built by state-owned steel mills, they have a capacity of 13,000 cubic meters.
For the iron and steel industry, the most feared is that the problem of the remaining capacity will not be effectively solved, and because of this, in the past one year, the governance policy on the problem of excess capacity will be followed closely. In spite of this, despite the severe policy stipulations, although many steel companies have vowed not to add new production capacity, for China, a big central steel country, new production capacity is still being released during the era. Out in the future, private steel companies are more likely to become the main "contributors" to this new production capacity.
