What are the installation methods for early discharge lightning rods?

The pre-discharge lightning rod, also known as the pre-discharge lightning rod, is mounted vertically on the top of the protected body to prevent lightning strikes on the grounded metal rod system.

1. Installation of lightning rod

After assembling the components of the lightning rod, the lightning rod is integrally fixed to the base by bolt fastening or welding.

2) After the installation is completed, there is damage to the joints of the lightning rods or the coating on the metal surface, and the rust prevention treatment should be done.

2. Maintenance of lightning rod

After the lightning rod is put into use, check the following contents before the thunderstorm season every year:

1) The connection of each connection part of the lightning rod should be reliable and not allowed to loosen.

2) Check the total resistance of the lightning rod to the base ≤ 5Ω.

3) The lightning rod should be grounded through the down conductor (dedicated or borrowed), and the grounding resistance value is ≤10Ω. In areas with high soil resistivity, the requirements for grounding resistance can be appropriately relaxed.

3. Protection range of lightning rod

The protection scope of the lightning rod shall be calculated according to the method specified in GB50057-94 "Code for lightning protection design of buildings" in Appendix 4 of "Rolling Ball Method to Determine the Scope of Protection of the Lighter". If the design requirements are not met, the lightning rod can be raised by adding a rod, or the lightning rod can be discharged in advance. When the range of objects to be protected is wide, multiple lightning rods can be considered to meet the design requirements.
