It is understood that in recent years the use of "universal solvent" tetrahydrofuran as a raw material for organic synthesis has gradually increased. With the expansion of uses in pharmaceutical intermediates, spandex fibers, polyurethane elastomers, etc., China needs a large amount of imported THF every year, and the import volume is yearly. increase.
At present, foreign THF production mainly adopts advanced BDO technology. However, there are many THF plants in China that use the furfural method for production. The pollution is serious and the scale of the equipment is generally small, the production cost is high, and there is a certain gap between the product quality and the world-class level. Therefore, domestic BDO is still difficult to apply in the field of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), paint additives and other products with high quality requirements. Domestic THF is also used in medical intermediates, pharmaceutical solvents, and pharmaceutical additives for the same reasons. It's hard to show off. To this end, China's annual high-quality BDO imports reached 60,000 to 80,000 tons, and imports of high-quality THF were also around 50,000 tons.
It is reported that the project will enter the phase of comprehensive installation and construction at the end of June this year and will be handed in on October 18, and it will be completed and put into operation before the end of this year. After the device is fully put into production, it can produce 30,000 tons of high-quality BDO and 20,000 tons of high-quality THF, which will not only ease the situation that China's high-quality THF is in short supply, but also accelerate the upgrading of domestic THF preparation technology.
It is understood that Nanjing Bluestar Chemical New Material Company also performed preliminary work on the polytetrahydrofuran project with higher value-added downstream products.
