Peacekeepers favor Iveco Motors

On November 30, 2003, the Chinese military made a strategic decision to purchase seven Iveco vehicles as part of a special procurement initiative. These vehicles were intended to be deployed with a newly formed peacekeeping force set to participate in United Nations missions abroad. The Chinese peacekeeping units often operate in extreme environments, facing harsh weather conditions, rugged terrain, and significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. This makes the reliability, adaptability, and quality of the vehicles crucial for mission success. Iveco, originally an Italian company with strong ties to NATO, has long been known for its advanced military vehicle technology. The production equipment used by Nanjing Iveco is similar to that used for military-grade vehicles, ensuring that the technical and tactical performance of these trucks meets high standards. To meet China's specific demands, Nanjing Iveco implemented stricter quality control measures and conducted extensive performance tests and technological upgrades. The development process took several years due to the rigorous testing requirements. The vehicles have undergone successful adaptability trials in various extreme environments, including cold regions, deserts, high-altitude areas, and zones with high humidity and temperature variations. Ongoing tests and improvements continue to ensure the vehicles can perform under any condition. In April 2002, Iveco successfully conducted a real airdrop test on the NJ2046 military vehicle. Despite wind speeds reaching 13 meters per second—far above the normal limit of 8 m/s—the vehicle was dropped from 800 meters using five parachute deployments and landed safely, fully operational and ready for immediate use. The NJ2045 and NJ2046 series are widely used by NATO forces. However, due to the diverse geography and extreme climate in China, additional requirements were placed on the "cold start" performance of these models. To address this, Iveco introduced enhancements such as improved flame preheating systems, low-temperature batteries, and electric fuel pumps, allowing the vehicles to start reliably at -41°C after six hours of maintenance. This level of performance and quality has earned Iveco the trust of the Chinese military. Recently, Nanjing Iveco received an urgent order in Beijing, requiring delivery within the same month. With tight deadlines, the company mobilized quickly, treating the project as a top priority. Under the supervision of the Military Representative Office, all departments worked together to complete production, modification, military inspection, and road testing within just 10 working days. Among the seven vehicles, five are modified rescue, engineering, communication, and transport units based on the NJ2045 SUV platform, while the remaining two are A40 buses. All vehicles are painted white as required by the UN and marked accordingly. Nanjing Iveco has been recognized as one of the most successful joint ventures under the Fiat Group. Backed by modern management systems like ERP, the company continuously improves its manufacturing, R&D, and technical capabilities. This time, Iveco contributed significantly to national defense and global peace through its reliable and high-quality products.
