Recently, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. and Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. filed with the AQSIQ according to the requirements of the Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Implementation Measures for the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recalls. The recall plan will recall the following vehicles in batches from March 9, 2018, for a total of 20,779 vehicles.
(I) Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. recalled some imported S-class, C-class and GLC SUV vehicles from July 28, 2016 to December 12, 2016, totaling 1,886 vehicles.
(II) Beijing Benz Auto Co., Ltd. recalled some C-class and GLC SUV vehicles produced from October 12, 2016 to February 13, 2017, totaling 18,893 vehicles.
Some of the vehicles within the scope of this recall, due to the manufacturer's production deviation, the propellant mixing ratio in some batches of front seat belt pretensioners does not meet the requirements, resulting in the front seat belt pretensioner may not work properly. In the event of a vehicle collision, if the seat belt pretensioner cannot be activated, its auxiliary protection function cannot be realized, which increases the risk of passenger injury and presents a safety hazard. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. and Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will replace the affected seat belts for free within the recall range to eliminate potential safety hazards.
The Mercedes-Benz Authorized Service Center will notify the owner of the recall by registered mail. Users can call the service hotline for consultation.
