The Glenside Fire Protection District, located in Glendale Heights, has recently been added to the site. Situated within MABAS Division 12, the department operates from a single fire station at the intersection of Fullerton Avenue and Bloomingdale Road. The building was originally constructed in 1970 and underwent a major renovation that concluded in 2004, modernizing its facilities while preserving its historic character.
Glenside currently maintains a fleet that includes two Medtec ambulances, a brand-new 2010 Ferrara Inferno pumper, two E-ONE HP75 quints, and a Pierce pumper. Additionally, the district is home to one of only three MABAS Division 12 hazmat trailers, highlighting its role in regional emergency response.
Most of the department's apparatus is currently painted in a striking black over red color scheme. Before the introduction of black roofs, the units were painted white over red starting in 1996. In the early years of the department, the apparatus was a bright yellow, a hue that also appeared on their uniforms and patches, reflecting a more colorful and distinctive identity.
