House fire in Chicago, 3-16-22

This message comes from John Keller: Truck 45 and Engine 92 arrived at 3830 W 108th Place to find thick smoke billowing out of the front windows of a one-story ranch-style home. Due to Battalion 21 and Truck 40 being stuck by a passing train, Truck 31 had to serve as the backup truck on scene. Engine 92 quickly knocked down the flames. On the way, Engines 2-7-5 and Squad 5 were canceled, while Engine 75 was rerouted to replace Engine 92. The fire was successfully extinguished, resulting in only minor injuries. Here’s the breakdown of companies involved: - Still Standby: Engine 92, Engine 120 (spare), Truck 45, Truck 31, Battalion 21 (spare) - Active Firefighting: Engines 2-7-5, Squad 5, Truck 40 (RIT), Battalion 20 (RIT), Air Supply 72 (RIT), Air Supply 17 (Standby), Pumper Crews 4-5-6 (Standby) For more images, check here: [link] [Image Caption: chicagolandfirephotos.smugmug.com/] [Image Caption: chicagolandfirephotos.smugmug.com/] [Image Caption: chicagolandfirephotos.smugmug.com/] [Image Caption: chicagolandfirephotos.smugmug.com/] As someone who has been following the Chicago Fire Department's activities closely, this incident highlights the importance of having backup resources ready in case of emergencies like trains blocking access routes. It’s always reassuring to see that even when challenges arise, firefighters manage to handle situations efficiently with minimal casualties. This event also underscores the need for regular maintenance checks on equipment and vehicles to prevent such obstacles in the future.
