The wait is almost over, and we’re just days away from revealing the winners of Autodesk’s AEC Excellence Awards 2019! With the support of our co-sponsors—Construction Dive, Smart Cities Dive, Society for Marketing Professional Services, and Informed Infrastructure—we’re thrilled to share this year’s impressive group of finalists. These projects represent the very best in innovation, technology, and excellence across the architecture, engineering, and construction industries.
Explore the finalists and discover the groundbreaking work shaping the future of AEC.
So what kind of projects made it to the final round? One standout is a complex bridge spanning one of Germany’s busiest highways, built entirely from a single digital model using advanced planning techniques. Another is an intelligent underground wastewater treatment plant in China that serves over a million people, utilizing BIM data, IoT, and smart sensors. Then there’s the University of Arizona Health Sciences Innovation Building, which highlights how prefabrication can dramatically improve project efficiency and outcomes. These are just a few examples of the creative and forward-thinking projects vying for recognition this year.
A total of 27 finalists were selected from over 186 submissions, with 18 expert judges working tirelessly to identify the most innovative and impactful projects. This year’s categories—Building Design, Construction, and Infrastructure—include projects of all sizes, from small-scale developments under $1 million to massive infrastructure initiatives exceeding $4 billion. The message is clear: innovation doesn’t depend on scale—it thrives at every level of the industry.
This is the second year that the Innovator of the Year award will be presented, recognizing individuals or organizations that are driving change through the use of technology in design and construction. With 43 entries from 19 countries, this category showcases the global reach and diversity of the AEC community.
Alongside the Innovator of the Year, we’ll be announcing all 10 award recipients in October. Their achievements will be celebrated at the Autodesk University Las Vegas AEC Customer Showcase Celebration breakfast on November 19. We can’t wait to honor these visionaries and share their stories with the broader AEC community. Stay tuned—and don’t miss your chance to be part of the celebration!
