Top Off-Road E-Bike Routes in the US You Must Explore
When Delfast decided to create the OFFROAD model based on numerous requests from our American fans, we wondered what some of the best off-road routes in the US were. So, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most incredible off-road routes across the country to give you even more motivation to get yourself a Delfast OFFROAD and experience the thrill of off-road biking firsthand.
One of the most iconic routes in the United States is the Mojave Road, stretching between Arizona and California. This 147-mile trail, which runs from Bullhead City, Arizona to Newberry Springs, California, is brimming with mesmerizing landscapes. Known as the Old Government Road, it served Spanish colonizers, explorers, and missionaries from the 18th to the 19th century. It takes approximately three days to traverse the entire route, but its breathtaking scenery could easily keep you exploring for much longer. Just remember to be cautious of the many snakes in the area!
Another must-visit route is the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route (WBDR), a 600-mile off-road path through the state of Washington. Suitable for both motorcycles and mountain bikes, this route showcases a variety of landscapes, ranging from the lush rainforests of the Cascade Mountains to the arid deserts of Eastern Washington. Along the way, you'll find plenty of campsites and hotels where you can recharge your electric bike and enjoy a good night's rest.
While the Mojave Road and WBDR are two standout options, they're not the only ones worth exploring. Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and California all boast their own unique off-road trails. For instance, the Alpine Loop Trail in Colorado is a 63-mile loop road that winds through the San Juan Mountains. Starting in Lake City, this route passes by seven ghost towns, offering a mix of adventure and a touch of history. Keep in mind, however, that the trail is closed during winter months.
In Arizona, the El Camino Del Diablo, a 250-mile route, is steeped in history. Historically referred to as 'The Devil's Highway' due to its challenging conditions, the trail follows the Mexican-American border near Ajo, Arizona. Be sure to bring extra water and emergency supplies when attempting this demanding dirt road.
Idaho and Montana are home to the Magruder Road Corridor, a 117-mile route named after Lloyd Magruder, who tragically lost his life on this road in 1863. Despite its somber history, the Magruder Road offers a scenic yet challenging ride, starting near Elk City, Idaho, and concluding in Darby, Montana. The journey typically takes around two days to complete.
To wrap up our list, we couldn't overlook the stunning White Rim Trail in Utah. Spanning 71 miles, this route is a two-day adventure showcasing iconic towers, buttes, and sandstone arches. However, if you're up for a challenge, it's entirely possible to complete the trail in one day on a Delfast OFFROAD, thanks to its impressive range on a single charge.
We hope these routes inspire you to hit the trails and explore the beauty of the great outdoors on your very own electric bike. Happy riding!
