UT Drone Inspections at a Cement Plant

UT Drone Inspections at a Cement Plant

    Key Benefits in a Nutshell

    Access

The Elios 3 UT can access assets in minutes, while traditional methods often take a full day to set up and collect data.

    Speed

The Elios 3 UT allows for rapid inspections, enabling multiple large assets to be checked in a single day, which is far more efficient than conventional techniques.

    Safety

Using the Elios 3 UT eliminates the need for scaffolding or rope access, significantly reducing risks to workers during inspections.

    Data Quality

The Elios 3 collects precise ultrasonic thickness measurements inside structures, meeting industrial standards and supporting digital asset management systems.

Cement plants rely on seamless connections between various components—from quarries to crushers, mills to kilns, and clinkers to silos. Maintaining these elements is essential to keep operations running smoothly. Plant managers plan maintenance carefully to minimize disruptions when an asset is out of service. Inspections are a vital part of this process, especially since visual checks are just one step in the broader non-destructive testing (NDT) procedure. Ultrasonic thickness (UT) measurements are also crucial for monitoring the condition of key equipment. However, accessing these assets isn’t always straightforward. Traditional methods often require scaffolding or rope access, which are time-consuming and pose safety risks. This is where the Elios 3 UT drone comes into play, offering a safer and more efficient alternative for inspections.

    Why Choose UT Drone Inspections?

The Elios 3 is a specialized unmanned tethered drone designed to navigate complex and confined spaces, eliminating the need for human entry. It can reach the insides of stacks, silos, and ducts, collecting critical data that helps assess asset conditions and identify potential maintenance needs early. InspecDrone, a German inspection company, tested the new UT payload on the Elios 3 at a cement plant. Their goal was to show how the drone could streamline and enhance the inspection process, making it faster and more reliable.

    Real-World Application: Inspecting Key Assets

    1. Flue Duct Inspection

One of the first assets inspected was a flue duct, which had a rectangular section that had been partially replaced. The client wanted to check the degradation of the steel structure. Due to high temperatures and corrosive dust, internal inspection was necessary. Traditional methods involved setting up ropes, safety procedures, and permits, which could take days. With the Elios 3, the inspection was completed in under two hours by a single pilot. Over 20 measurements were collected per flight, providing detailed data that helped assess the duct’s condition quickly and accurately.

    2. Silo Cone Inspection

Next, the team inspected the cones of limestone silos. These structures were elevated and required scaffolding or elevated platforms for traditional UT measurements. The Elios 3 made the process much simpler, allowing the pilot to measure 25–30 points per silo in just one or two flights. This not only saved time and money but also provided geolocated data that could be used for future reference. The results were clear, accurate, and easy to analyze, helping the plant monitor wear and tear over time.

Transforming the Future of Asset Inspections

The Elios 3 UT demonstrated its value in a single day at the cement plant, showing how drones can revolutionize inspection processes. By eliminating the need for lengthy setups, special permissions, and extended downtime, the drone offers a fast, safe, and effective solution. With the ability to gather high-quality data quickly, the Elios 3 enables proactive maintenance, reducing the risk of unexpected failures. This shift toward digital and automated inspections represents a major advancement in operational efficiency and long-term cost savings. InspecDrone's client was so impressed with the results that they wanted to explore more applications for the Elios 3 UT across the site. From flue ducts to silos and smaller duct systems, the drone proved that inspections don’t have to be slow or complicated—they can be quick, precise, and highly informative.

    Commercial Gym Equipment

Commercial gyms provide professional fitness equipment for fitness enthusiasts to help them achieve better exercise. Usually refers to high-quality and durable fitness equipment used in commercial venues such as gyms, fitness clubs, and hotel gyms.

    Commercial gym equipment includes:

    1. Treadmill: Commercial treadmills come in two styles: touchscreen and button options. They offer features such as adjustable speed, slope, and preset exercise modes.
    2. Elliptical trainer: Elliptical trainer is a device that has a good effect on cardiovascular and pulmonary function exercise. Commercial elliptical machines are typically equipped with advanced features such as LCD screens, Bluetooth connectivity, and multiple sports meter modes.
    3. Stair climbing machine: Tighten the gluteal and thigh muscles while using the stair climbing machine, without damaging the knee and ankle joints. Equipped with an infrared automatic sensing brake device, it is very safe to use.
    4. Fitness bikes: This includes upright bike, recumbent bike, spinning bike. They offer various resistance levels and comfort options.
    5. Strength training equipment: This includes cable crossover machines, dual adjustable pulley machines, smith machines, squat rack, and various types of free weights. These components are typically designed with safety features and ergonomic handles.
    6. Free weights plate loaded: such as chest press, leg press, front pulldown, etc., increase the weight of barbell plates according to their own exercise needs, allowing users to effectively target specific muscle groups.
    7. Other aerobic equipment: In addition to treadmills, elliptical cross trainer, and stair climbers, other aerobic exercise equipment may include rowing machines, vibration machine, and ski machine.
    8. Free weight: including dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, etc; Usually placed on shelves or supports to ensure safety and ease of access.
    9. Gym Fitness Accessories: such as yoga mats, yoga balls, resistance bands, bosu balls, aerobic step, etc., can be used for various exercises.
