As we dive deeper into the new year, the Fusion 360 team is already delivering on some of the exciting features announced at Autodesk University last November. Among the highlights are advancements in sheet metal design and the introduction of branching-and-merging capabilities, both of which are now part of the product innovation platform. These updates, along with others in the pipeline, continue to solidify Fusion 360's position as a comprehensive solution for product development, combining CAD, CAM, and CAE functionalities all seamlessly integrated with the cloud for effortless collaboration.
**If You Fold It, It Will CAM**
One of the most eagerly awaited features is finally here, delighting the Fusion 360 community. Sheet metal design has long been at the top of the list of requested features in Fusion 360 forums and the Ideastation. Now available as a tech preview by invitation, this feature allows users to design sheet metal parts and seamlessly transition them into the CAM workspace to generate toolpaths for cutting flat patterns, all within a single workflow. If you’ve got waterjets, plasma cutters, or laser cutters, they’re about to get a serious workout.
**Let’s Git Together**
Collaboration is second nature to software engineers, but hardware engineers often find themselves working in isolation. Fusion 360's new branch-and-merge functionality, currently in tech preview, changes that. Users can now explore design ideas concurrently and merge them back into the master branch without conflicts. Say goodbye to convoluted workflows or duplicate files just to sync your progress. With branching and merging, the best design always rises to the top.
**The Cloud’s the Limit**
This month, Fusion 360 takes another step toward its browser-based future with the tech preview launch (by invitation) for North American users. The team has worked tirelessly to ensure Fusion 360 is as versatile as possible, whether you're using a Chromebook, an iPad, or a Linux desktop. Your CAD work shouldn’t be confined to a specific device—it should follow you wherever you go.
**The EAGLE Has Landed**
In November, we mentioned that ECAD was on its way to Fusion 360. While that’s still in progress, there’s other news to celebrate. Autodesk EAGLE is now available as a subscription offering. Since joining Autodesk last summer, the team has been rapidly enhancing its capabilities. Whether you’re looking for free or paid subscription options for PCB design, there’s something for everyone. Despite all this excitement, we’re just scratching the surface. There’s plenty more planned for the remainder of 2017, and the future looks brighter than ever. Remember, roadmaps are plans, not promises, and the final details are subject to change at our discretion.
*Note: Roadmaps are not intended to influence purchasing decisions.*

With these updates, Fusion 360 continues to redefine what modern product development software can achieve. From sheet metal to cloud-based collaboration, it’s clear that Fusion 360 is setting the bar higher than ever before. Stay tuned for even more innovations as the year unfolds!
