Check out the attached photos from the Daily Chronicle. It's a story about the "Collyers Mansion" fire that happened on October 26, 2016. It was a general alarm fire with a lot of work done from the outside because of the poor interior conditions. They could only have three people on the second floor at a time. Still, it was a good response overall.

Here are some excerpts from the Daily-Chronicle.com article and more details:
Firefighters were called to 974 W. State St., in Sycamore, on Wednesday evening after a neighbor reported seeing smoke. When crews arrived, smoke was visible coming from the attic of the two-story home, according to Sycamore Fire Chief Pete Polarek. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control within about 30 minutes.
The residents had already evacuated the home by the time firefighters arrived. No one was injured. The fire caused approximately $40,000 in damages to the property.
Homeowner Larry Smith, 61, who lived there with his wife and son, mentioned that they had been remodeling the house. Two weeks prior, they had completed the roof and installed new windows. He wasn’t sure what caused the fire, which appeared to have started in a second-floor bedroom and hallway. He also didn’t know where the family would stay that night. The damage from the fire, along with smoke and water, made the home uninhabitable.
No injuries were reported in the fire, and the Sycamore Fire Department received assistance from crews in DeKalb, Cortland, Hinckley, and Genoa.

It's always interesting to see how these incidents unfold and how quickly crews respond. The photos give a real sense of the situation at the time. It’s clear the fire was serious, but the fact that no one was hurt is a relief. The community must have been shaken up, especially since the family had just finished renovations. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for them to lose their home like that. It’s also good to see that multiple departments came together to help. That kind of cooperation really makes a difference in emergency situations.
